On a sunny summer Sunday, #SundayFunday got a whole new meaning. Spotlight City Events brought a taste of Spain back to the streets of Toronto for the 2nd year of Pintxos Toronto, presented by Estrella Damm.
The tasty tapas festival took place on the massive terrace of the Royal Bank Plaza; a location frequented by Bay Street bankers, but as NOW Magazine described,
“…it became a Spanish side street packed with counter after counter of Basque bar snacks…There was even the golden glow of a San Sebastian summer in the air that afternoon…”
The Spanish-inspired small plate offerings came from some of Toronto’s top restaurants including; Barsa Taberna, Carmen, Cava, East Thirty-Six, Mamakas Taverna, Marben, Patria, Salt Wine Bar, and Splendido. Even Donostia hailed from the Big Apple to partake in the festivities and served up their traditional Basque fare.
With food comes beer and Estrella Damm had us covered. As the presenting partner of Pintxos Toronto, the “Beer of Barcelona” brought their namesake to the party. From their beer lounge that spanned almost half the terrace to the DJ spinning lounge beats with an accompanying Spanish guitarist, it was as if we were on the boardwalk along the Mediterranean.
The party didn’t stop there! As Tweet Cards were passed around, social media caught on fire with over 2.1 million impressions. Twitter felt the heat, and #PintxosTO started to trend.
