Ajax Downs Kicks Off Their 2015 LIVE Quarter Horse Racing Season
Feel the speed as you watch the world’s fastest equine athletes soar to the finish line.
Ajax Downs is heading into its 46th Quarter Horse racing season and 7th year on its new state-of-the-art track. The season includes 28 live race days, with their opening day set for Sunday, May 10th. Every Sunday until September 13th, you’ll have plenty of chances to WATCH, WAGER and WIN on up to 10 races per day with a minimum bet of only $2.00. First race post time is 12:55 pm. This season’s schedule includes Stakes and holiday races on various Mondays until October 19th. On every race day, Ajax Downs’ professional handicapper, Nick Coukos, will have his “Nick’s Picks” ready to assist anyone who’s looking to wager. Jaimi Fellows and Maddie-Jo Tilley will be broadcasting live throughout the day.
The American Quarter Horse is known for its incredible short distance sprinting talents. It’s also seen as a great rodeo competitor, but its ability to reach a speed of up to 90 km/h on a quarter mile track is what gives the Quarter Horse its claim to fame.
“Quarter Horse racing is special because it attracts the young with its focus on brute speed. It also attracts the cowboy in all of us with its western appeal.” — Nick Coukos, Professional Handicapper at Ajax Downs

BIGGER PATIO
The patio has been expanded for those who enjoy watching their picks in the paddock area before post time. There will now be more seating for you, your family, and your friends to experience the excitement on race day.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Hot summer days at the races call for thirst quenching drinks and grub. The food & beverage program has been improved to offer more options — choose from a variety of Labatt beers and ciders and pulled pork sandwiches straight from the grill.
NEW TRACK CORRESPONDENT
For the first time ever, Ajax Downs has brought on a Track Correspondent, Maddie-Jo Tilley, to report all the action from the ground in real time. Throughout the race, Maddie-Jo will offer up wagering tips and picks, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the jockeys and horses.

She says she’s now very happy to be “back on track” hosting race days at Ajax Downs. You can also find MJ on Talkin’ Horses TV Show Saturdays at 1pm on CTV.
