This Fall was a busy one, chock-full of Jarritos Canada events, cocktails and giveaways. In keeping with Jarritos’ roots as a Mexican brand, we themed two Jarritos initiatives around the always anticipated Day of the Dead festivities.
Day of the Dead, known as Día de Muertos in Spanish, is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico. Created as a way of honouring dearly departed loved ones, the holiday began in Southern Mexico, quickly spreading throughout the country and parts of the region. This day is typically celebrated through festivals, parties and parades, where revellers don colourful makeup and costumes.
As no strangers to parties ourselves, we threw a Day of the Dead night to remember with our friends over at El Catrin. Located in the heart of the distillery district, El Catrin is an authentic Mexican restaurant serving both traditional and modern fare. With its impeccable décor and ambience, it was only fitting that the Jarritos Day of the Dead event was hosted there. Media guests enjoyed yummy Mexican street foods, drinks and were turned into sugar skulls by on-site make-up artists. Attendees also had the opportunity to have photos of their loved ones added to our orfrenda (an altar for memorabilia, food and photos of the dearly departed), making for a truly authentic Day of the Dead experience.
A delicious Jarritos cocktail, titled “Eh-Spe-Hismo,” was the belle of the ball with an infusion of Tequila and Blue Curacao, topped with lime Jarritos. You can catch the easy to recreate recipe here to shake up at your next party.
This month was also host to the #JarritostoMexico giveaway. Instagrammers were offered a chance to win a trip for two to Mexico! To enter this exciting contest, all entrants had to do was follow @JarritosCanada on Instagram, grab a Jarritos, snap a pic, and post it, tagging #JarritostoMexico & @JarritosCanada.
Being the second time running this contest, there were hundreds of entries from enthusiastic fans.
