Memorial Arena Reborn as Memorial Market Place: A New Landmark for Belleville’s Downtown
Belleville, ON – The historic Belleville Memorial Arena is set to begin a new chapter as Memorial Market Place, a dynamic lifestyle and retail hub in the heart of Belleville’s downtown. Slated to open in Fall 2024, this exciting transformation of a beloved city landmark will combine commerce, creativity, and community under one roof.
For over a century, the Memorial Arena has been a cornerstone of Belleville’s history, hosting local hockey games, events, and memorable gatherings. Now, Memorial Market Place will build upon this rich heritage, offering a new purpose for the space while preserving the building’s unique architectural charm.

Project Update & Tenancy Announcements
With construction well underway, Phase 1 of the Memorial Market Place development is progressing on the north side of the building, overlooking Belleville’s famous Farmers Market. Upon completion, the space will feature 15,000 square feet of retail space and a 15,000 square foot event centre, designed to host a wide variety of community gatherings, exhibitions, and special events.
Several tenants have already secured spaces at Memorial Market Place, including:
- Cracked Glass Design – A modern take on traditional stained glass artistry.
- PEC Wine Club – Showcasing premium wines from Prince Edward County.
- Benji’s Café – A community-focused café that has already become a local favorite since its opening in October 2023.
