Good Design Takes More Than Knowing How to Use Canva
Let’s talk about design for a moment.
We use Canva at Branding & Buzzing. It’s a great tool. But knowing how to use Canva doesn’t automatically make someone a brand designer.
It’s a bit like the early days of desktop publishing. Just because someone knew how to use the software didn’t mean they understood graphic design.
There’s a difference between putting something together that looks nice and building a visual identity that works across packaging, websites, advertising and everything in between.
Professional designers understand colour theory, typography, composition, art history and how visual elements communicate. They know why certain colours work together, how typefaces influence perception and why a logo needs to look just as good on a tiny social media icon as it does on a billboard.
At Branding & Buzzing, partners Marian and Sean bring years of creative direction, brand strategy and marketing experience to the table. But we also know the value of working with formally trained, senior designers.
That’s why we collaborate with talented senior graphic designers like Zeke whose expertise helps turn a creative vision into a thoughtful, functional brand identity.
For Rabbit River Farms, every element needed to work together. The packaging, colours, typography, website, photography and even Ruby’s new animations had to feel like they belonged to the same brand.
That doesn’t happen by choosing a template.
It happens when experienced people understand both the art of design and the business of building a brand.
Canva is a tool. Design is a discipline. And there’s a big difference.
