At Branding & Buzzing, we spend a lot of time talking about community, hospitality and the power of bringing people together around food and experiences. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to experience all three firsthand at “An Evening with Jim Cuddy,” a sold-out fundraiser in support of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Hosted at the beautiful Compass Rose Suites, the evening brought together supporters from across Prince Edward County for an intimate performance by Jim Cuddy and Friends, alongside a roaming Marché-style culinary experience featuring some of the County’s most celebrated chefs, restaurants, wineries and breweries.
The atmosphere felt uniquely County from the moment guests arrived. Food stations were spread throughout the barn while conversations flowed between the greenhouse, auction areas and outdoor gathering spaces. The entire evening reflected the event theme, “Fabric of Our Community,” celebrating the people, businesses and organizations that continue to support local healthcare in meaningful ways.

One of the biggest highlights of the night was the food itself. Every culinary and beverage experience was donated in support of the fundraiser, turning hospitality directly into community impact. Guests sampled dishes from some of the region’s top culinary teams, including roasted chicken thigh with black garlic aioli, guindilla pepper and truffle manchego from Bocado Restaurant, steelhead trout with pea purée, matcha and vermouth crème from Drake Devonshire Inn, and griddled Great Lakes fish cakes with wild leek tartar sauce from Jamie Kennedy Kitchens.
Other standout offerings included tuna tostadas from La Condesa, beet tartare with pickled horseradish cream from Stella’s Eatery, potato casserole from Summerwind Catering, braised polpette meatballs from The Royal Hotel, and assorted desserts from PECish Baking Company.
Beyond the incredible music and hospitality, the evening delivered a major result. Thanks to community support, “An Evening with Jim Cuddy” raised an incredible $577,000 toward a new mammography machine for Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. That number speaks volumes about what can happen when local businesses, artists, chefs, volunteers and residents rally behind a shared cause.

Events like this are also a reminder of why experiential gatherings continue to matter. Great events are rarely about a single performance or headline attraction. They are about creating an atmosphere where people feel connected through food, conversation, entertainment and shared purpose. This evening delivered all of that in a way that felt authentic to Prince Edward County.
Congratulations to the entire PECMH Foundation team, volunteers, sponsors, chefs, beverage partners and everyone involved in making the evening happen. It was a special night for the County community and an inspiring example of how hospitality and fundraising can work hand in hand.
