Since its launch earlier this year Plutino Food & Drink is not showing signs of slowing down on the productivity or the excitement. With more than twenty years of representing top artists Plutino Group is pleased to formally welcome Jordie McTavish as the new agent of the Food & Drink Division.

McTavish’s extravagant resume includes 8 years of assisting in building an empire alongside celebrity chef Mark McEwan as well as time spent consulting in the hospitality industry alongside CEO Matt Rolfe at Barmetrix Toronto. During her time at the The McEwan Group McTavish collaborated with McEwan on several successful campaigns including appliance brand Jenn-Air, New Zealand wine brand Stoneleigh Vineyards, celebratory food festival Barbados Food & Wine plus Top Chef Canada, Food Network Canada’s highly popular television competition series. McTavish also has vast experience bringing campaigns to life when working with national and global brands, resulting in the best of benefits for any chefs and various partnerships involved.

“After years of dreaming about a position like this, having it become a reality was the first milestone,” McTavish happily expressed, “from here I want to bring Canadian chefs to the world stage. We have such talent in our country that is severely overlooked and I am so proud to say that our current roster of chefs and those we have our eyes on for the future will be represented and will represent themselves, the industry and their partnerships on the highest level.”

Jordie also shared her thoughts on how up-and-comers can work toward their goals of becoming public-facing celebrity chefs.

“Pay your dues! Spend your time honing your craft. It might take years or decades. You need to have a legitimate culinary point of view based on personal experiences to be taken seriously.”

Roseanna Plutino, founder of Plutino Group and partner of Plutino Food & Drink, reflected on what Jordie brings to the agency and how working with an agency, and agents like McTavish, can benefit the busy working chefs of today.

“Jordie brings a genuine love for the culinary industry which is an extraordinary quality for an agent to have and is enhanced by her years of experience managing Mark McEwan’s celebrity status. These high-profile, high-energy chefs are incredible businessman who are already running world acclaimed restaurants. We work hard to protect their individual brands and to showcase them through partnerships that best represent who they are”

Meanwhile, across the country, with the expansion of their sustainable seafood conservation program, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is proud to announce the addition of award-winning Chef Ned Bell as the Executive Chef of the Ocean Wise® culinary team.

As a sustainable seafood ambassador himself, in 2014, Bell created Chef’s for Oceans alongside Ocean Wise® to create nationwide awareness about ocean protection and beneficial seafood practices.

John Nightingale, President and CEO of Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre, explained:

“We have long been partners with Chef Ned Bell in the fight against overfishing. Having him officially join our team as executive chef will strengthen and expand our national Ocean Wise program and further elevate our culinary experience at the Vancouver Aquarium”

Nightingale also noted how hiring Bell will not only benefit the aquarium’s advocacy initiatives but also the venue itself:

“Chef Bell’s immense experience in culinary excellence, matched by his personal commitment to sustainability, will refine our culinary experience – from weddings and large events to a visit to the café, Vancouver Aquarium will be one of the best sustainable venues in the city.”
