Welcome to Carmen!

We’re welcoming Chef Rob Leonard to the Carmen Family! Now working on Carmen’s classic paellas, Rob’s passion for Spanish cuisine and knack for perfection makes him a great addition to the team. Chef Rob first began his training in the culinary arts through his co-op high school apprenticeship followed by enrollment in the George Brown College Chef School. He also holds experience cooking in top notable restaurants found throughout Toronto.

“Chef Luis served me his famous dish, and I quickly learned its complexity and saw opportunities to make this dish bright and flavourful. I am now leading his kitchen cooking Carmen’s paella and am having a great time bringing raw ingredients to life.”           – Chef Rob Leonard

Mike’s ready to mix things up at Carmen

Now stirring the classics and other refreshing feats is our new mixologist, Mike! He’s ready to serve you all of your Carmen cocktail favourites. If you’re looking to try something new, be sure to ask him about our minted potations including our sweet-meets-sour, yet succulently sober, Pom Duras Nito; a pleasing peach and pom kick without the alcohol content. This cooling concoction was recently featured as one of Toronto’s Top Six Best Non-Alcoholic Cocktails in the City by Foodism.

Spicing Up Summer

Our chefs have been hard at work developing new summer recipes with authentic Spanish flavours.

“Using only the finest locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, including the freshest of meats and fish, we create dishes that celebrate the summer weather and reflect summer dining in Spain. The summer menu is bountiful with Carmen’s homegrown herbs and spices, grown right here on our patio, giving the dishes a special taste of both home and away.”   – Chef Luis Valenzuela

Pintxos Parties at Mercat Del Carmen!

Our sister spot, Mercat Del Carmen, has a new persona: café by day and pintxos hotspot by night! This means that the café is available as a private event space during evenings throughout the week. Pintxos and tapas are the new hottest way to entertain your guests. With beautiful displays of classic Spanish bite-sized items, Spanish wine pairings, and home to one of the most Instagramable walls in the city by The Culture Trip, your guests will feel transported to an evening in Spain with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Carmen is a place meant to be enjoyed with close friends, family and, of course, amazing food.
